Clay
Kaolin clay is used in almost all of our soaps (and several other products) for a few reasons. One it is purifying and detoxifying which I think we can all agree is a good thing. Another other reason is that we used clays to anchor our fragrances. What that means is that we add clay to our fragrance oils and allow it to soak in all the fragrance to help our bars of soap smell amazing for longer. It can also provide very gentle exfoliation, but is less drying than other clays.
Bentonite clay is another additive we use regularly. Bentonite clay provides excellent slip to items like shaving soap.
Clays come in a variety of colors and are often used as natural colorants.
Additives
Allantoin is used in most of our lotion formulations. It helps moisturize, reduce redness, and improve the skin's texture.
DL- Panthenol, more commonly known as Pro-Vitamin B5. The human body readily absorbs DL-Panthenol through the skin and it rapidly converts D-Panthenol to Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5), a natural constituent of healthy hair and a substance present in all living cells. Studies have shown D-Panthenol promotes stimulation of epithelization, granulation, mitigation of itching and has an anti-inflammatory effect. When used in formulations over the course of three to four weeks, it has the potential to improve the appearance of the skin, including dryness, roughness, scaling, pruritus and erythema.
Extracts
Sea Buckthorn is an extract that is loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. Although used in herbal medicine for years, there have been studies suggesting that it can help the skin with a variety of issues.
Nettle is an extract used in Shampoo formulas, to boost the hair volume or increase thickness. It can also help curls be more bouncy.
As we add more products to our line you can be assured that we will look for the highest quality ingredients in order to make the best products.
